Davao Trip: Governor's Ball @The Party Boat

Governor's Ball is the event in the Toastmasters District Convention that I really looked forward to aside from  the contests. We enjoyed the party as we roamed around the sea for 3 hours on board the Party Boat(my first time to do that!wee!)

 After some lovely chat with some of our fellow Toastmasters while having dinner, we walked around the boat and we enjoyed the view and the cool breeze.

The cocktails tasted like juice despite the big amount of alcohol they mixed it with so, we had lots of them. Thankfully we didn't get drunk when the night was over. :)

Of course, a party is not a party if there's no music! They played songs that are perfect for the party and the singer we had at the party did really well in entertaining us. She's got a good voice and she's really good in dancing. Top of that, she's a great stand up comedian. Everyone laughed their hearts out in every line she utters!

While everyone's enjoying the party, it suddenly rained. Some got disappointed but, some loved that even more! When the guys went at the center and danced under the rain(picture above), the others saw how fun it was so they also joined! Sadly though I held back. I don't know why though. Maybe that was just me wanting and trying oh so hard to be "prim and proper". Because of that, I wasn't able to maximize the fun.

A date with a dear friend

What I hate most about meeting a friend whom you haven't seen for a very long time is, they get to point out the huge difference of who you are now from who you are years back. Last Thursday night, I had dinner with a friend whom I haven't met for about 3 years. Was very excited(or should I say giddy?haha) to meet him that I went to our meeting place 2hours early. nah. I just didn't have anything to do anymore so I went immediately after our activity so that I can find a "perfect" birthday present for him.

During our cab ride from our meeting place to Club Filipino, we talked about the good times, our friends, our college days and our new look. One thing is oh so sure, we both gained weight :))

Though we were not able to bond really well because we attended a toastmasters meeting for our dinner and he can no longer join me and my high school friends because he has to go to work early the next day, I'm really thankful that we got to see each other. 

When we bade each other farewell and I was 10 meters..20 meters..30meters..40meters from him, I suddenly had a separation anxiety. 

Good thing is, even if it will be long before we see each other again, the distance can always be bridged by facebook, twitter and cellphone :)

That Friday Blog Hop

Dinner at O' Mai Khan, Baguio City

After a long afternoon, me and my friends decided to have dinner together. Initially, we went to Camp John Hay but since we wanted a full meal and only Starbucks, Army Navy and Yellow Cab were the only open establishments, we transferred to O' Mai Khan.



We chose the table at the veranda because we knew we'll be laughing our hearts out and tell each other stories at a not so mellow volume. We didn't want to disturb any customers and we also wanted to feel the cool Baguio breeze. We sat down and looked at the menu. Several minutes of deciding what we'll have, we finally placed our order.

Of course, before eating, we took some pictures as this is a very rare moment and this is the first time I had dinner with the three of them.(the other one we were with was the one who took the photo..hihi)

After that hearty dinner that lasted for almost two hours, we went to a nearby cinema and watched that John Lloyd-Angel movie. We were supposed to hang out at Rumours after but we decided not to because we're already too worn out so we went straight home.

Since I already have O Mai Khan as my topic, I might as well give my review :)

My O' Mai Khan review:
I recommend their Conqueror's Meal if you want something saucy and sweet and if you are really hungry. The sauce is complementing the grilled ribs so you'll definitely enjoy every bite.

Kublai's dream is my favorite. They marinated the porkchop really well. The plating for this meal is also very great as the porkchop is butterly-shaped and is topped with the omelet which goes with it very well.

Their tempura is also delicious and I think the best tempura I've had so far. It's not greasy and it's not like some tempuras that has a lot of flour to make it crispy. If you're hungry and you want a filling meal, I wouldn't recommend this.

Their Mongolian Buffet is one of their best and I think most of the customers go there because of this. A must try!It's really fun to mix different ingredients and different sauces on your own.

Truly, O' Mai Khan is one of my favorite restaurants in Baguio City. Their food is delicious and their service is definitely great. The staff are very attentive and courteous. The reasons why whenever a friend visits me in Baguio, I bring them there.

Night Out with my Korean Friends

When I was still a student, you will never find me hanging out with friends in malls, clubs, bars, restaurants, etc. (until I reached my final year in college). During my 3rd year as a university student, I shared a room with 4 Koreans who are exchange students from Sungkonghoe University. They're the fun loving and energetic type of people. I guess a lot of Koreans are.

Before they left, my and my best friend decided have a bonding with them so we asked them out for dinner. We went to Hotel Veniz and we tried the Mongolian Buffet. There were lots of laughter and craziness. We went to the Buffet table thrice before it registered to us that yea,we're finally full. After dinner, we still continued chatting then we took a picture before we left.

By the way, that was the only time I have learned that they're the ones who choose their english name. Initially, I thought, their english name is the translation or the reciprocal of their korean name..teehee

After the dinner, we felt that it was still too early for us to go back to the dorm because it was only 8:30 in our watch so we decided to go to a KTV where they usually hang out with their friends.

Juliet, Esther and Tamia are really good singers. The english songs they sang? The songs of Mariah Carey, Whitney Huston and Jennifer Holliday. But most of the songs they sung are songs of KPOP groups.

And of course, me and my best friend also had our singing moments. For her it's ok because she is a great singer like our korean friends.For me, I tried my best but I guess singing is really not for me.

The initial plan was just an hour but, because we had so much fun, we spent a little more than two hours. Before we left, we had another picture together. This is actually the last picture that we had together.

umm..yeah.They usually go out with mini shorts! :)

This night out was May 2010 but I can still clearly remember all of the wonderful and crazy moments that we had that night and the other moments during the two months that we became roommates in the dormitory. I just posted this because I am missing them so much. Soooooo looking forward to creating more moments like this with them :)
