Desserts at Sage, Baguio City

Sage is a new restaurant in Baguio. Up for trying something new, I said yes to my friend when she said we should have our desserts there after our lunch.

When we arrived at the place, I was stunned because I never expected such a relaxing place in the middle of Military cut-off. We were greeted warmly by one of the staff. We took our seats and we seated there comfortably until the staff gave us their menu and their "service water" or complimentary drink or whatever they call it. One thing I have to say, who needs flavored drink/soft drinks/cocktails if the restaurant would serve you this:

We placed our order, waited for a few minutes, told each other stories then our food was served.

Before we had desserts, we shared a salad first.

 Their salad is really good. It's crunchy and really sumptuous. It's my first time to have a salad with pomelo and I was not really thrilled at first but when I tasted it, I loved it. The juicyness of the pomelo adds flavor to the salad. I just didn't like the cucumber because I am not really a cucumber lover so perhaps next time I'll ask them to not add cucumber on my salad. hehe

Smores Cake

I baked smores brownies before and it became one of my favorites so when we were there, it is what I ordered. To be honest, I didn't like it because the cake is not that moist and is actually not that soft either. It tastes okay but for people who likes moist/chewy/sweet/fluffy, this is not the cake I'd recommend.

I love using lemons for cakes and pastries because the sourness of the lemon is just enough for sweet, yummy treats. My friend ordered this and she was generous enough to share this with me. I loved it because you can still taste the essence of the lemon and still get the sweetness you want from having a cake. The icing complements the cake as well. The cake tastes really great!

The plating is great and the it really looked delicious. We tasted it and we were not disappointed. This is by far, their best cake(out of all the 5 I tasted) for me. nuff said :)

Since my friend wanted to try their sorbet, we got one. There are different flavor available like watermelon, melon, and I forgot the others but we chose this one.

Several things I have to say about this sorbet, it's for sharing, it's delicious, it's all natural and you can really see it, it's affordable and it's something you'll always want to have whenever you go to Sage so yes, I had that the second time and third time I went there :)

Overall, Sage became one of the restaurants I love to go to whenever I am in Baguio. The ambiance is nice, the staff are very accommodating, pleasant and friendly, the food is great and the prices are reasonable :)

Late Night Meet-Up at Pizza Volante

Bored, hungry and lonely, I asked a friend if we can have a late dinner together. Thankfully, she said yes. We decided to meet at Pizza Volante because it's one of the few restos in Baguio that's open 24hours and the prices of the food there are pretty reasonable. My friend tagged a common friend along which is a good thing because with one more person joining a meet-up, there are more things to talk about.

I had my favorite four cheese pizza. Hawaiian is too ordinary, meat-lovers or any pizza that has lots of meat in it are too salty, I don't like pepperoni and I am not a huge veggie lover so I always go for the simplest pizza :)

Our meal in Pizza Volante is never complete without having our favorite dessert, the choco-vanilla love affair. It is something that we never fail to have whenever we eat there.

After a 3-hour dinner and catching up, we left at around 12AM :)

My first time in Baguio

 Years ago before I came to Baguio to study at Saint Louis University, I was already a frequent visitor of the city. My mom's younger brother was studying in the Philippine Military Academy and her sister was a law student that time so there were times when we go to Baguio to visit them.

The pictures were taken Summer of 1993(when I was 2 years old). I think my uncle was inducted or there's a special occasion at PMA then that's why the whole family(mom's side) went to Baguio.

 I was shocked when I looked at my pictures years ago and I saw that I have eyes that looked like they were stung by a bee. I think I looked very different before. Oh and gosh. My haircut is just the same haircut as my brother's!haha. The only thing that made me look like a girl were the pair of earrings I was wearing. ;)

Now, after almost 20 years, a lot of things changed here in Baguio and I am the one being visited not the other way around. It's just nice to know that the city I frequently visited became my home since 2007 :)

This is where me and my friends hang out if we want to simply be together but not really talk to each other.haha!The reasons are, because the mere presence of each other is enough, we have things that we need to do and we're doing it there and, we have lots of time to talk to each other when we go to a restobar anyways..haha!

THe first time I went to He Brew's was when I attended a Toastmasters meeting. Since we're encouraged to order because we're using the venue, I ordered spaghetti and an iced tea. The food is definitely great considering its price so that night, I just found a perfect place to review. 

One afternoon, I got bored at my apartment so I asked a friend to go out with me. We met at He Brew's since he wanted to try something new. He had a breakfast meal in mid-afternoon while I had some pesto and a pot of tea

After we both finished our meals, we ordered a cup of lemongrass tea because we felt embarrassed staying there for almost 30minutes after finishing our food!haha

The great thing with He-Brew's(aside from their food) is, they have this mini library where you can look for a book you might want to read while staying there.

Because of the cafe's floor to ceiling glass window, you can clearly see the buildings in Baguio and middle part of Session Road(go there at around 6 for a more magnificent view!)

So, after almost 3hours of stay at He Brew's, we finally left and went on our separate ways--him going to his school for his exam and me to our toastmasters meeting. :)
